found stray

HIT Living Foundation is not able to accept strays at this time. If you encounter a stray dog, here is a wealth of information on your options and our best suggestions for helping the dog in your care. Please also consider utilizing the resources available on Los Angeles Animal Service’s website, specifically their page “I’ve found a pet”.

Owner Surrender

HIT Living Foundation occasionally accepts owner surrender dogs, when all other rehoming options have been exhausted. As a foster-based rescue, our capacity is extremely limited, so we cannot guarantee we will have space. All requests must begin with with a completed Owner Surrender Intel Form for initial evaluation.

First, please read Find the Perfect Match for Your Pet with Home To Home!

FOR DOGS: Please email our team a photo, description of behavior, and medical history of your dog at adminteam@hitlivingfoundation.org. Once we receive this information, and if we have space available, we will send you the Owner Surrender Intel Form. Please note the Owner Surrender Intel Form is just for us to better understand your dog, and completing it doesn't guarantee we will be able to accept the dog. If we do accept your dog, please be prepared to transport the dog to the foster (most fosters are in East Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, or the South Bay). We may also require for a donation depending on the circumstances.

FOR CATS: Please reach out to a local cat rescue.

OTHER HELP

We unfortunately do not have the answers or solutions for every case. Here are some suggestions and resources we have found helpful to share with those in need.

If you are unable to care for your animal due to the cost of routine medical care, please view Free & Low-Cost Spay/Neuter & Veterinary Services as well as Affording Pet Care Resources.

If you are considering relinquishing your pet due to behavioral issues, please consider Finding a Dog Trainer, or for Pitbulls owners please visit LARPBO.

If you are a Los Angeles residents and need support in keeping your pet, whether it’s food, housing guidance, or other resources please visit the LAAS’s Finding Solutions page.

*Please DO NOT post your pet on craigslist or other resources that aren’t part of your local rescue community. Many cruel and heinous things may happen to them.
